Founded by Sir William Lyons in 1922, Jaguar cars started out with modest beginnings producing sidecars under the brand Swallow Sidecar. It was when the SS 100 was launched, a two-seater British sports car, that Sir Lyons decided that the company needed a more refined brand name that fully represented its elite class. The SS 100 model was crowned the world's first Jaguar and set the standard for many luxury vehicles on the market today.
